To Amos Sparks 4 Locke 25 acres This Indenture made the twenty first day of March One thousand eight hundred and twenty nine Between John Minard of the town of Locke in the County of Cayuga and State of New York and Caroline his wife & Mary Steward of the first part and Amos Sparks of the same place of the Second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars Do grant bargain and Sell remise release alien and confirm unto the said part of the Second part their heirs and assigns for ever All that certain piece or parcel of land situate being and being in the town of Locke in the County of Cayuga and State of New York being a part of lot number four Locke and is particularly Bounded and described as follows and known by the name of the Stag farm being also the east half of the same at a Stake and stones Standing in the northwest corner of the stone in the town line and runs from thence south twenty five chains and eighty three links to a large Rock in the highway Thence west nine chains and sixty eight links to a stake thence north twenty five chains and eighty three links to a stake in the town line from thence east in the town line nine chains and sixty eight links to the first Bound and contains twenty five acres of Land. Together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances (sic) thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold the said premises as above described to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the sole and only proper use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said parties of the first part their heirs executors and administrators do covenant grant promise and agree to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns the above bargained premises in the quiet and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against all and every person of persons whatsoever lawfully or equitably claiming or to claim the whole or any part thereof will forever Warrant and Defend In witness whereof, the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written John Minard L.S. Caroline Minard L.S. Signed sealed and delivered } Mary Stewart L.S. signed by her mark X In the presence of Eden Smith Joseph Bowker State of New York Cayuge County Ss On this 21st day of March 1829 personally appeared before me John Minard & Caroline his wife and Mary Stewart to me well known to be (Page 246) the grantors described in and who executed the within deed and Severally acknowledged the voluntary execution hereof for the use and purposes herein mentioned And the said Caroline being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband did declare and say that She executed the same freely without any fear threat of compultion from her said husband.
